Students were tasked to explore the production of historical garment recreation, working with the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) to create historical garments inspired by works in the museum’s collection. Hundreds of students have set up encampments from California to Massachusetts, leading to a national debate over free speech on college campuses as some Jewish students and administrators say the demonstrations have at times been sites of antisemitism.
